Today, Congressman David Rouzer (R-N.C.), Congressman Rodney Davis (R-IL), Congressman Colin Allred (D-TX), and Congresswoman Angie Craig (D-MN) announced the relaunch of the bipartisan Congressional Supply Chain Caucus. Originally started just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Congressional Supply Chain Caucus was created to work toward updating and improving the supply chain system. Today, Americans are more aware than ever of supply chain challenges and the need for common sense, bipartisan solutions. Amidst the ongoing global supply chain crisis, the caucus will collaborate to advance supply chain policies and approaches to benefit the country both today and into the future. Congressman Rouzer and Congressman Davis will serve as the Republican co-chairs of the Caucus alongside Congressman Allred and Congresswoman Craig, who will serve as the Democratic co-chairs. "The ongoing global supply chain crisis is affecting every American through shipping delays and increased costs — and that assumes you can even get the product," said Rep. Rouzer. “There are a wide-range of factors affecting our supply chain as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. I’m proud to join my colleagues in relaunching this bipartisan caucus to help identify and drive supply chain solutions. From agriculture, to manufacturing, to the technology start-ups of tomorrow, all American industries and consumers rely on a robust and timely supply chain. It is imperative that government policies help improve — not hinder — the supply chain delivery system." “The global supply chain is a critical component of our economy and the American way of life,” said Rep. Davis. “The pandemic and the government’s response to it has contributed to this historic supply chain crisis we are currently facing, and we need a robust and expeditious response from the federal government to address it. That’s why I’m proud to again be a member of the bipartisan Congressional Supply Chain Caucus. It’s my hope that this Caucus can identify and collaborate on bipartisan solutions to address this current supply chain crisis and work to prevent future ones from occurring.” “Supply chain slowdowns are impacting everyday life for folks across North Texas, and to get our economy back on track, Congress must work in a bipartisan way to strengthen our supply chain and end the disruptions we’ve seen as a result of this pandemic," said Rep. Allred. "This shouldn’t be a partisan issue, and it’s why I am proud to help lead this bipartisan Caucus and craft solutions that will help reduce costs, create jobs and improve our supply chain across the board.” “It’s clear that our reliance on global supply chains have left us unprepared to meet the demand that our economy is currently experiencing,” said Representative Angie Craig. “In Congress, we must take immediate action to get products to shelves faster – and to help the private sector to rebuild, strengthen and bring home more of our supply chains in the future. I’m proud to help lead the launch of the bipartisan Congressional Supply Chain Caucus, and to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address these ongoing challenges.” |
