The Biden Administration has abdicated their responsibility to uphold the U.S. Constitution by failing to protect our country from the devastating impacts of Biden’s Border Catastrophe.

• Seizures of the deadly drug fentanyl are up by more than 300% over May last year.
  
  
• 7,450 pounds of fentanyl have been seized so far this fiscal year, far surpassing the 4,776 pounds seized in all of 2020.
  
  
• Criminal organizations trafficking women, children, families and single adults over the U.S.-Mexico border earned as much as $14 million a day in February, according to border patrol sources.
  
  
• Fees to smuggle children or a family to the U.S. can run as high as $5,000 and as much at $9,000 for a single adult.

Under our Constitution, states have significant authority to take their own actions to counter the open-border policy of the Biden Administration.  That’s why this week I joined my House Republican colleagues to advocate for states' rights to defend themselves and secure our border from the ongoing deluge of cartel-facilitated drugs and crime.  Click here or on the image below to view my remarks.

Advocating for NC-07 Beach Re-nourishment Infrastructure Projects

Several NC-07 beaches have been authorized by Congress for federal funding through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for decades, partnering with the state and local government to provide a portion of the funding necessary to protect life, property, and our critical tourism economy in the event of a natural disaster.  Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach and vicinity (which is Kure Beach) have scheduled re-nourishment cycles this year.  However, I’m concerned about the Administration’s proposed budget, in part, because of its lack of dedication to undertaking and completing projects like this.  In fact, the Biden Budget request asks for massive spending increases in every discretionary budget category except for national defense, homeland security, border security, and infrastructure projects funded through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 

Speaker Pelosi would always lecture us whenever President Trump submitted his budget requests saying, “Show me your budget and I will show you your priorities.”  Well, Madam Speaker, by your own definition the Biden Administration obviously cares little for national defense, homeland security, border security and true infrastructure projects funded through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.    

During a Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment hearing, I asked the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers about their plan to ensure our beaches receive the critical funding they need to move forward with these re-nourishment infrastructure projects.  You can watch my questioning below.

For today’s good news story, I want to highlight a unique project recently completed in Newton Grove, N.C. by Hobbton High School graduate Samantha Britt.  Samantha’s recent completion of the “Circle Food Pantry” is at Weeks Park in Newton Grove and aims to serve the community by providing food and books to those in need.  To quote the article, “’When I started this project, I just knew I had to do something for those that were struggling,’ Britt said.  ‘For us, the closest place like that, where people could get help, was an hour away.  I just really wanted to give something like this back to help my community.’”
