Rep. Rouzer Introduces a Bill to Recognize Wilmington as a WWII City
Washington, DC,
March 19, 2015
Today, Congressman David Rouzer (NC-7) introduced a bill that will designate at least one city in the United States each year as an “American World War II City.” The legislation names Wilmington, NC as the first recognized city. Cities seeking recognition will be ones that have preserved the history of the city’s contributions to the war effort and recognizes our World War II veterans. “The City of Wilmington played a significant role in the war effort and is very deserving of the title “American World War II City.” The city has done a fantastic job of preserving important pieces of war history including the USS North Carolina. It’s time we recognize cities all over the country for their contributions to the war effort. “A special thanks to Wilbur Jones of Wilmington, NC who has worked tirelessly to get this special recognition for Wilmington.” ### |
