Congressman David Rouzer released the statement below following the President’s proposal to end the partial government shutdown: “The President put forward a very sensible compromise proposal that would end the partial government shutdown and address the most pressing needs on immigration — funding for border security including the hiring of more agents, protection for DACA recipients and Temporary Protected Status holders, funding for more immigration judges, and additional funding for humanitarian assistance and medical care. These are all very reasonable and needed measures. Speaker Pelosi may have objected to this proposal right out of the gate, but that doesn’t mean the rest of the Democrat conference must. They should demand the Speaker come to the table and negotiate in good faith.” ### |
