Empowering States to Secure Southern Border

In response to the Biden Administration's efforts to block states from placing physical barriers along their border with Mexico, I introduced legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that would provide states more standing to secure the southern border.

On January 22, the Supreme Court ruled with the Biden Administration and allowed U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to begin removing razor wire Texas installed along their southern border.  In 2022, Texas and Arizona placed shipping containers along parts of the southern border to prevent illegal crossings, leading to lawsuits from the Biden Administration to block this action.

My bill, the CONTAINER Act, would give border states the explicit authority to place temporary barriers on federal land to protect their communities and the entire United States against illegal immigration and the deadly flow of drugs.

No community is immune to the drugs, sex trafficking and crime the Biden Administration's policies are incentivizing while enriching the cartels.  This bill will give border states the explicit ability to erect physical barriers to protect not only their citizens, but all of America, from President Biden’s catastrophic open-border policies.  Click here or on the image below to read Fox News' coverage of my bill.

This Week's Good News Story

For this week's good news story, I'm congratulating the Southeastern Community College practical nursing class of December 2023 which passed their National Council Licensure Examination or NCLEX with a 100% pass rate!  According to the News Reporter, "this 18-member class is the third class in a row to pass their state boards with 100% success on the first attempt. Director of Nursing Jessica Hill said practical nursing is a one-year program that spans three semesters in spring, summer and fall. All NCLEXs were taken between graduation and the first week of February. She said the December 2023 graduates are all employed or heading back to school." Congratulations on your achievements, graduates!
