This past week, the House passed legislation to teach students across America about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Research shows that a significant number of students have favorable opinions on some of the darkest practices of the CCP. It's vital we ensure the preservation of our republic by educating the youth on the dangers of Communism. Below are more details on what the curriculum would include should families, civic organizations, and schools choose to utilize it. (This is not mandated.)

We also voted on a bill that would protect and strengthen small businesses. North Carolina has many successful small businesses that contribute a great deal to our economy. We need to ensure that those small business owners, and aspiring owners, aren't under the thumb of the federal government, which is why the Prove It Act of 2024 is important legislation. Teaching the Truth About Communism

in American Classrooms

Almost one-third of Generation-Z youth have a favorable view of Communism, one of the most destructive and nefarious ideologies in human history. We must educate the next generation on this evil and the deadly impact it has had on hundreds of millions of people across the world. To provide educational resources to do this, the House passed H.R. 5349, the Crucial Communism Teaching Act on a bipartisan vote to direct the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to provide civic education curriculum and materials for middle and high schools about the dangers of Communism and totalitarianism.

This bill aims to help families, civic institutions, local communities, local educational agencies, high schools, and state educational agencies to prepare high school students to be civically responsible adults.

The Crucial Communism Teaching Act directs the Victims of the Communism Memorial Foundation to develop civic education curriculum with a comparative discussion of certain political ideologies, including Communism and totalitarianism, conflicting with the principles of freedom and democracy essential to the founding of our nation. The curriculum will be easily accessible for educators to promote understanding of such political ideologies and will be compatible with various courses, including social studies, government, history, and economic classes.

House Republicans will not allow this destructive ideology to infiltrate American classrooms. We are committed to telling the truth about Communism and safeguarding our republic.

Protecting Small Businesses

from Regulatory Overreach

Small businesses are the economic engines of our communities and America, but under the regulatory onslaught of the current Administration it has only become harder to successfully start and operate them. House Republicans are continuing the fight against this disastrous regulatory regime and passed H.R. 7198, the Prove It Act of 2024, to make it easier and less costly to start a business and achieve the American dream.

This bill requires more transparency on regulatory decisions of an agency affecting small businesses under the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA). The RFA law requires agencies creating a new rule or regulation to determine if such new regulation will have an economic impact on small businesses. Despite the good intentions of the RFA, it has failed to achieve the objective Congress intended. Small businesses continue to pay higher costs due to new regulations coming from the Biden-Harris Administration even with the law in place. The Prove It Act further empowers small businesses to petition the Small Business Administration (SBA) to review proposed regulations and their economic impact, strengthening American innovation by providing small businesses a stronger foothold to fight burdensome regulations.

We must ensure nothing gets in the way of innovation, entrepreneurship, and competition in America.
