Dear [salutation],
The past ten days in Washington have been busy and historic. President Donald J. Trump delivered his State of the Union Address to Congress and the nation. His remarks outlined a strategy to further strengthen the economy, secure our borders, and return jobs to the United States.
In the early hours of Saturday, February 28, under President Trump's leadership, the U.S. military launched Operation Epic Fury. Our brave men and women in uniform are once again demonstrating America’s unmatched resolve and exceptional capabilities. As this mission continues, my prayers are with the families of our fallen heroes, for the swift recovery of the wounded, and for the continued success of the mission.
Before returning to Washington a week ago, I had the distinct honor of hosting a reception for our 2026 U.S. Service Academy nominees. These young men and women represent the very best of our community, and it was a privilege to celebrate the next generation of leaders who will serve our nation.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader and one of the most brutal dictators of our time, is dead. For decades, his regime exported terror, destabilized entire nations, and claimed the lives of countless individuals worldwide, including innocent American civilians and our own servicemembers. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are reaffirming our unwavering commitment to defending our citizens and standing by our allies. By dismantling a regime that has long funded global terrorism, the United States is taking the necessary steps to provide for an historic opportunity for lasting stability and peace in the Middle East. I am grateful for the President’s courage and conviction to take the decisive actions required to protect our nation and the world from the Iranian nuclear threat.

This past week, President Trump delivered the annual State of the Union Address to Congress and the nation where he reaffirmed his bold, visionary agenda for a stronger, more prosperous and secure union. The pro-growth tax, regulatory, and energy policies of this Administration and Congress have led to lower gas prices and have reduced the rate of inflation to much lower levels. Investment and jobs are returning to America from overseas. Additionally, we are cutting wasteful spending and rebuilding our military. After four years of open border policies, which allowed drug dealers and criminals to enter the United States at their pleasure, our border is finally secure. However, there is more to be done to get our country back on track. I look forward to continuing our work with this Administration to continue to deliver on President Trump’s promises and restore American greatness.

Agriculture Roundtable in Greenville, North Carolina
I also joined a roundtable with Congressman Greg Murphy (NC-03) to discuss how leaders in Congress can continue to support North Carolina’s agriculture industry. Our famers contribute more than $113 billion annually to our state’s economy. The industry is vital to feeding and clothing our nation and the world. I look forward to continuing to advocate for our farmers in the House Committee on Agriculture and will keep their input in mind as we debate the 2026 Farm Bill in Committee this week.

Farm, Food, and National Security
Since 1933, American agriculture has changed immensely, but the determination and perseverance required to farm remains the same. It’s a lifestyle that builds character and a strong work ethic for those who have the blessing of growing up on a farm. Today, our farmers provide the safest, most affordable food supply in the world, and it is our job to ensure that legacy continues for generations to come. Tomorrow and Wednesday, the House Agriculture Committee will mark-up the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, which is a major step forward in protecting this rural way of life. By expanding access to credit, lowering rural energy costs, and improving crop insurance, we are providing our producers the certainty they need to remain competitive with their foreign competitors while battling unfair trading practices. This legislation is about more than policy; it’s about ensuring the next generation of farmers can afford to stay on their family land. I will always advocate for the tools our farmers need to continue feeding and clothing the world.
